Jean-Pierre Jeunet
French director, born in Roanne in 1953.
A self-taught filmmaker, Jean-Pierre Jeunet began his career by directing advertising films and music videos for Étienne Daho, Julien Clerc and Lio, among others. His name was long associated with that of Marc Caro, an artist with whom he directed a number of short animated films, including Le Manège and The Bunker of the Last Gunshots, which won awards at many festivals. Together, they co-directed their first feature films Delicatessen (César for the Best First Film and Best Script in 1992) and The City of Lost Children in 1995. He went on to pursue a solo career in the United States, where he directed Alien: Resurrection. In 2000, he returned to France to direct Amélie, a huge hit worldwide. After The Young and Prodigious Spivet (2013), Jean Jeunet directs a satiric science fiction movie, Big Bug, which will be shown on 2022.
