Robin Campillo

  • French director and scriptwriter, born in 1962 in Mohammédia (Morocco).

    In the early eighties, Robin Campillo attended the IDHEC, where he met Laurent Cantet. He co-authored and edited several of his films: Time Out (2001), Heading South (2005), and The Class (2008), which earned him the César Award for Best Adaptation. In 2004, he directed his first feature film The Returned, which would later inspire the Canal + series of the same name. He then shot Eastern Boys (2013), winning the Orizzonti Award for Best Film at the Venice Mostra. In 2017, with BPM, he retraced the actions of Act Up, the militant association for the fight against AIDS. The film won the Grand Prix at Cannes as well as six César Awards. Robin Campillo has also continued his activities as a scriptwriter: he co-wrote Planetarium (2016) by Rebecca Zlotowski, as well as The Workshop (2017) by Laurent Cantet.
