Dag Johan Haugerud
Dag Johan Haugerud, Norwegian filmmaker and novelist born in 1964 in Eidsberg.
After completing a degree in library science, as well as studies in theater, film, and literature, Dag Johan Haugerud has maintained a lifelong interest in language and the power of words. A highly popular novelist in his home country, he released his first feature film, I Belong, in 2013, which won the awards for Best Director and Best Screenplay at the Amanda Awards—the Norwegian equivalent of the Oscar. He won them again in 2019 for Beware of Children. International recognition came in 2025 with his “Oslo Trilogy” (Sex, Dreams, Love), the second installment of which was honored with the Golden Bear at the Berlinale. This trilogy reflects the filmmaker’s penchant for parallel narratives and resonances between characters, and explores, with a touch of humor, the intimate truths of human relationships.
