Quand la voiture d’Hélène lancée à pleine vitesse rencontre le pas nonchalant de Gilles, c’est d’abord l’accident. Mais c’est aussi surtout l’occasion d’une rencontre entre ces deux êtres inadaptés et mal dans leur vie. En effet, Hélène anesthésiste, ne parvient pas à endormir la douleur causée par la perte d’un amour idéal. Gilles, lui, rêve, se plaint beaucoup, et peine surtout à s’éveiller à la vie.
