Emmanuel Marre

Emmanuel Marre

  • French director, born in Cormeilles-en-Parisis in 1980.

After studies in Belgium at the Institut des Arts de Diffusion, Emmanuel Marre directed several short films, including Le Film de l'été (Film of the Summer) which won the Grand Prix at the Festival de Clermont-Ferrand in 2017. His first feature, Zero Fucks Given (2021) was selected for the Critics’ Week at the Cannes Film Festival. Made on a shoestring budget, the film introduced iPhone filmmaking. In 2026, his second film, A Man of His Time, won the Prize for Best Screenplay at Cannes. In it, he pursues various experiments of mise en scene, at the margins of fiction and documentary, to better reflect this deep dive into the workings of the collaboration as seen through the ordinary life of a public servant of Vichy, inspired by the history of his great-grandfather.
