Albert Ménard-Lacoste ist ein reicher, etwas frustrierter Industrieller. Eines Tages taucht vor ihm sein Zwillingsbruder Alain auf, den er seit Jahren nicht mehr gesehen hat. Und das aus gutem Grund, denn die beiden Männer haben radikal gegensätzliche Charaktere. Alain hat keinen Cent, ist aber weit gereist und hat das Leben gut genossen. Vielleicht sogar ein bisschen zu viel. Denn der Zwillingsbruder stirbt plötzlich in den Armen seines Bruders. Albert kommt auf die verrückte Idee, seine Identität anzunehmen und sich für ihn auszugeben.
