Spanien, 1950er Jahre. In einer kleinen Provinzstadt besteht die Hauptbeschäftigung der Einwohner darin auf der Hauptstraße spazieren zu gehen. Am Abend begegnen dort die jungen Frauen auf der Suche nach einem Ehemann den bösen und zynischen Jungs. So täuscht Juan vor, dass er in Isabel verliebt ist, die als alte Jungfer angesehen wird…
