Au début du 20ème siècle au Nouveau-Mexique, le petit Jeb Rand est recueilli par Medora Callum après que son père ait été assassiné. Medora l’élève comme ses propres enfants, la jeune Thorley et Adam. Quelques années plus tard, Jeb manque de se faire tuer par un mystérieux inconnu. Tout au long de sa vie, il sera maudit et pris pour cible par des tueurs sans qu’il ne sache pourquoi.
