Nigerianische Arbeiter versammeln sich in Accra, um an der jährlichen Zeremonie des Hauka-Kults teilzunehmen. Der Hohepriester Mountbyéba dirigiert den Ritus der Besessenheit und ruft die "Genies der Kraft" herbei. Durch Trance und frenetische Tänze werden die kolonialen Figuren, die die Nigerianer als "verrückte Meister" bezeichnen, verkörpert und lassen sich ihrerseits zähmen.
