Depuis qu’il a compris qu’il ne pourrait pas emporter son argent au paradis, Martin Vanderhof a abandonné la course aux dollars. Il claque la porte du monde des affaires pour se consacrer à la famille de sa fille qu’il couve avec fantaisie. Mais les appétits de puissance du cynique milliardaire Anthony Kirby menacent la bonne humeur du foyer. Ce dernier cherche en effet activement à s’approprier la maison de la petite famille pour transformer le quartier en une usine d’armement. Au milieu de cette querelle, Tony, le fils Kirby et Alice, la petite-fille de Martin Vanderhof sont tombés amoureux.
