Printemps 1963, Wyoming. Jack et Ennis sont engagés pour garder un troupeau de moutons pendant la transhumance. Isolés au cœur de la nature sauvage de Brokeback Mountain, ces deux hommes voient naître entre eux un désir inattendu et irrésistible. A la fin de la saison, chacun reprend sa vie de son côté mais lorsqu’ils se retrouvent quatre ans plus tard, un seul regard suffit à raviver leur passion.
