Tous les soirs, Keiko monte les marches du luxueux bar de Tokyo où elle est hôtesse. Dans une atmosphère langoureuse et enfumée, elle s’occupe de divertir de riches hommes d’affaires. Malgré la tentation de l’argent facile, la jeune femme refuse de céder aux avances des clients afin de ne pas trahir la mémoire de son mari décédé. Un soir pourtant, Keiko est troublée par l’un de ces hommes…
