Rika, jeune femme veuve, vient d’être employée en tant que bonne au sein d’une maison de geishas à Tokyo. L’entreprise en déclin, Rika s’investit dans son travail et gagne la confiance et l’amitié des habitantes de la maison. Lorsque Ohama, ancienne amie de la directrice, acquiert les droits de l’établissement, elle projette de le transformer en restaurant.
