In Nice, at the casino, Jean discovers gambling and one platinum blonde gambler in particular named Jackie whom he instantly falls for. Jackie toys with the awkward Jean, giving him his first experience of love. With somber realism, Jacques Demy spins a tale of love, obsession and gambling. While Jeanne Moreau delivers one of her finest performances as a seductive Parisian who would sell her soul for another spin at the roulette table.
