Massachusetts, 1993. Micky est un boxeur dont la carrière stagne désespérément. En coulisse, c’est sa mère qui prend les décisions. Dans l’ombre de Micky, il y a aussi Dicky, son demi-frère, ancien boxeur de haut niveau qui a fini par sombrer dans la drogue. C’est seulement lorsque Micky rencontre l’intrépide Charlene, ancienne athlète reconvertie en barmaid, que la chance lui sourit à nouveau…
