Après une belle histoire d’amour, les différences séparant Joel et Clementine auront eu raison de leur couple. Trop malheureuse, celle-ci a décidé d’effacer tout souvenir de Joel de sa mémoire. Lorsque celui-ci l’apprend, il décide d’en faire autant et contacte le Dr Mierzwiak, l’inventeur de ce procédé révolutionnaire. Alors que tous ses souvenirs défilent dans sa tête, Joel se rend compte qu’il ne veut plus oublier leur histoire. Mais toute procédure engagée doit être achevée.
