Lloyd, chauffeur de limousine, vient de déposer sa cliente Mary à l’aéroport lorsqu’il s’aperçoit qu’elle a oublié sa mallette. Il tente alors de convaincre son colocataire Harry de partir dans le fin fond des Etats-Unis afin de retrouver la jeune femme et de lui rendre son bien. Harry accepte de mettre entre parenthèse sa carrière de toiletteur canin et tous deux commencent un improbable voyage.
