Frank Galvin est un avocat vieillissant et alcoolique dont la réputation a été sérieusement écornée au cours d’une affaire. Alors qu’il hante les salons funéraires à la recherche de clients, il se voit confier un très lourd dossier dans lequel une jeune fille est tombée dans le coma après une erreur médicale.
