Ein junger Vorführer träumt davon, ein großer Detektiv zu sein. Beim Besuch der Tochter seines Chefs, in die er verliebt ist, wird er zu Unrecht beschuldigt, eine Uhr, mit einem Trick seines Rivalen, gestohlen zu haben. Von seinem Chef und seiner Braut verstoßen, sucht der Sherlock-Lehrling Zuflucht in seiner Projektionskabine, wo er einschläft und zu träumen beginnt. Sein Double durchbricht die Leinwand und er wird Sherlock Junior, dem größten Detektiv. Die Ermittlung, die er durchführen muss, ist eine seltsame Erinnerung an die Abenteuer seines eigenen Lebens...
