En 1879, un convoi de mormons est emmené par le patriarche Wiggs vers la vallée de San Juan. Là-bas, tous espèrent fonder une nouvelle colonie. Pour les escorter lors de ce voyage, Wiggs a engagé deux jeunes cow-boys : Travis Blue et Sandy Owens. Au cours de leur odyssée à travers l’Ouest Américain, les jeunes hommes vont se lier avec les mormons…
