Sept brigands menés par Jack Bruhn décident d’établir leurs quartiers dans un village enneigé des montagnes de l’Oregon. Ils viennent d’attaquer un convoi et sont en possession d’innombrables sacs d’or. Les habitants voient d’un très mauvais œil ces nouveaux venus et s’en réfèrent à Startett, un fermier coriace connu pour avoir repoussé toute la vermine de la montagne. Startett propose alors à la bande de Jack Burhn de les aider à s’orienter dans les Rocheuses…
