Une femme courtisée par un homme mélancolique accepte de l'épouser. Mais lorsqu’il trouve un travail bien rémunérée et l'emmène au restaurant, son regard ce tourne vers une autre femme. L’homme trompe son épouse désormais enceinte, qui après avoir trouvé un gant dans ses affaires, part vivre avec sa mère. Lorsque le mari est à son tour abandonné par sa maîtresse, le remords le pousse à rechercher son épouse…
