Monsieur R. est un dessinateur industriel, marié et père de famille, menant une vie bien réglée. Un jour, sans explication, il tue voisin, femme et enfant.
Note : le film, coréalisé avec Michael Fengler, fut par la suite renié par Fassbinder. En cause, son aspect anti-théâtral et le côté “brouillon” des dialogues improvisés par les acteurs.
