Will Graham, un brillant agent du F.B.I., est sorti de sa retraite anticipée par son ancien patron, Jack Crawford. Ce dernier a besoin de Graham pour mettre fin aux agissements d’un tueur en série qui massacre des familles entières les nuits de pleine lune. En dépit des réticences de son épouse, Graham accepte. Pour neutraliser le meurtrier, il décide de faire appel à la science criminelle du Dr Hannibal Lecktor, un éminent psychiatre et dangereux psychopathe.

Notes : Le Sixième sens est la première adaptation cinématographique de Dragon rouge de l’écrivain américain Thomas Harris publié en 1981. Il s’agit du premier épisode de la tétralogie Hannibal Lecter (ici nommé Lecktor). En 2002, le livre a fait l’objet d’une seconde adaptation réalisée par Brett Ratner.
