Pierre Brochant plays a curious game with his friends: the idiots' dinner. On Wednesdays, everyone brings an idiot, and the winner is the one who comes up with the most spectacular one. Tonight, Brochant is convinced he's found the rare pearl, "the world-class idiot": François Pignon, an employee at the Ministry of Finance and a fan of matchstick models. But he doesn't know that Pignon is about to unleash catastrophe after catastrophe and make everyone fall: "What goes around comes around."
