Paris 1945 - Der ehemalige Widerstandskämpfer Diego, trifft Raymond, einen totgeglaubten Kameraden, wieder. Als sie ihr Wiedersehen feiern, verkündet ein Landstreicher Diego, dass er die schönste Frau der Welt treffen wird. Bald darauf scheint sich die Prophezeiung zu erfüllen und Diego verliebt sich unsterblich in die schöne Fremde. Erst später erfährt er, dass die Frau eine Kollaborateurin war.
