Seconde Guerre mondiale. Lorsque l’URSS s’engage dans le conflit, Ivan Orliouk décide de s’enrôler dans l’armée. Des premières batailles jusqu’à Berlin, le soldat, porté par son amour infini pour la patrie, sent l‘importance des événements auxquels il prend part. De retour au pays, Ivan reprend sa vie de paysan sur les rives du Dniepr.
