Hippo, ein desillusionierter Mittdreißiger, lebt von der Hand in den Mund, arbeitet nicht und zeigt keinerlei Ambitionen. Als er Nathalie, eine dynamische Studentin der Ecole Normale Supérieure, kennenlernt, ist das ein Schock. Verliebt weigert sich Hippo, ihr seine Gefühle zu offenbaren: Wie könnten ihre so unterschiedlichen Lebensstile zu einer Einheit werden?
