Shoji, jeune employé dans une grande entreprise de Tokyo, est las de son travail peu gratifiant et ne s’entend plus avec Masako, son épouse, depuis le décès de leur unique enfant. Le destin du couple bascule lorsque Masako apprend que son mari a eu une aventure avec une collègue. Shoji accepte alors une mutation loin de la ville.
Note : Printemps précoce est découvert en France en 1992, plus de 35 ans après sa sortie au Japon.
