Yumiko a perdu son mari Hiroshi, renversé par une voiture. Enceinte de leur premier enfant, elle tente de se relever de ce drame. Shiro Mishima, le responsable de l’accident, souhaite à tout prix aider la jeune femme en lui versant une pension et en gardant contact avec elle. Yumiko fuit puis apprend peu à peu à pardonner.
