Frank Galvin est un avocat vieillissant et alcoolique dont la réputation a été sérieusement écornée au cours d’une affaire. Alors qu’il hante les salons funéraires à la recherche de clients, il se voit confier un très lourd dossier dans lequel une jeune fille est tombée dans le coma après une erreur médicale. Galvin part alors en croisade contre cette clinique à la réputation inébranlable. Cette affaire sera son salut ou le plongera dans le plus grand déshonneur.
