Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, sous l’occupation allemande, Edouard Martin est un père de famille sans histoire. Surnommé par ses voisins “le père tranquille”, cet assureur passionné d'horticulture est pourtant un chef de la Résistance.

Note : le film est inspiré de l’histoire vraie de Jean Ernest Kempnich.
