Madame Rosa est une vieille dame habitant Belleville, quartier parisien populaire où se côtoient Juifs, Arabes et Noirs. Elle est elle-même juive et a connu la déportation. La vieille dame s’occupe désormais d’enfants confiés par l’Assistance publique. Parmi eux, Mohammed dit Momo, pour qui elle a une affection particulière. Un jour, Madame Rosa tombe malade et Momo met tout en œuvre pour s’occuper de celle qui l’a tant protégé.
