Charley ist Auftragskiller für die Prizzi, eine opulente New-Yorker Mafiafamilie. Als er auf eine Hochzeit einer Frau aus dem Klan eingeladen ist, fällt er unter den Charme der delikaten jungen Irene. Die Liebe auf den ersten Blick ist gegenseitig. Aber als Charley zu einem Auftrag nach Las Vegas aufbricht, um eine Beute wiederzubeschaffen, die den Prizzi gestohlen wurde, trifft er plötzlich auf Irene. Die geht nämlich der gleichen Tätigkeit nach wie er.
