Im Jahr 1917 kommen drei Jungen, deren Väter in den Krieg gezogen sind, bei einem Wildhüter, der mit seiner Frau und zwei Kindern lebt, unter. Vorerst scheint der Krieg weit weg. Doch er überschattet jedes Detail des täglichen Lebens: Von den grausamen Kriegsspielen der Kinder bis hin zu den Soldaten auf Fronturlaub. Regisseur Pialat zeichnet ein zartes, impressionistisches Porträt der Unschuld der Kindheit, die mit dem Schrecken des Krieges konfrontiert ist...
Diese Episode beginnt mit dem Haus im Wald, in dem Albert, der Wildhüter, sowie seine Frau „Mama Jeanne“ und ihre beiden Kinder leben. Zu Beginn dieses Sommers 1917 nehmen sie drei Jungen auf, deren Väter an die Front geschickt wurden, Albert, Michel und Hervé. Wenn sie nicht in der Schule sind, spielen die Kinder Krieg und verstecken sich im Wald. Das einzige Problem ist, dass der kleine Hervé keine Besuche von seiner Mutter erhält...
Hinweis : Das Haus im Wald ist eine Fernsehserie, die nach einem Roman von René Wheeler produziert wurde, der auch an der Erstellung des Drehbuchs beteiligt war.
