En 1999, la Thaïlande et le Vietnam entreprennent de poser le premier câble de fibre optique qui permettra de relier les deux pays. Les travaux d’enterrement du fil dans une tranchée donne du travail à de nombreux Cambodgiens : familles dans la misère, paysans, soldats démobilisés. Mais leur labeur ne se fera pas sans heurt, la terre creusée renferme des milliers d’âmes errant sans sépulture…
