En 1970, l’écrivain et dramaturge japonais Yukio Mishima, se suicide selon la tradition Hara-Kiri des samouraïs. Au moment de cet élan vers la mort, il se souvient par bribes de sa vie, divisée en quatre chapitres : la beauté, l’art, l’action et l’harmonie (de la plume et du sabre). Débute alors une plongée onirique et flamboyante au cœur de l’existence et de l’œuvre d’un des plus grands artistes japonais.
