A Danish director born in Copenhagen in 1974.
The son and grandson of film directors, Joachim Trier was passionate about skateboarding as a teenager and participated in national competitions. At 23, he attended the National Film and Television School in London and three years later embarked on the production of his first feature film, Reprise, which was presented in numerous international festivals. In 2011, he made Oslo August 31st, freely adapted from Will O' the Wisp by Drieu La Rochelle. The film was selected at Cannes in the Un Certain Regard category and was widely acclaimed. His latest film Back Home, starring Isabelle Huppert, Jesse Eisenberg, and Gabriel Byrne, was in official competition at Cannes in 2015.
