A beetle is fleeing from a bird. No hiding place is safe from its pursuer. So it crawls into a dark crevice that the bird&#x27;s beak can&#x27;t reach. The beetle laughs at the bird. It hasn&#x27;t yet realized that it&#x27;s sitting in the space between the earth and the sole of a man&#x27;s shoe.

A Peaceful Day

A flock of birds lands on a telephone line. All their heads point in one direction, but the smallest bird&#x27;s faces the opposite direction. The boss ignores several of his suggestions. His reputation is at risk, so he orders a U-turn. Now order is restored, everyone looks in the direction of the outsider. Only one wants to do something different...

A small man sits on a train station bench. A bulky, initially polite man joins him, reads his newspaper, eats his travel provisions on the train, follows him, harasses him on the bus, in the taxi, and in his house, making himself at home. When the harassed man calls the police, the patrol arrests him, and the ruffian triumphs. The little man is released. Now helplessly exposed to the intruder&#x27;s harassment, he is thrown out.

Kontraste

Kafka sees a waitress nibbling from a pot, which she is about to serve. In violent indignation, he complains. His complaint is upheld, and the girl is sentenced to be stoned. Kafka protests, saying he hadn&#x27;t meant to trigger this, but stones are thrown at the waitress all the more vigorously. Kafka, powerless against the machinery that has been set in motion, takes his own life. Meanwhile, the girl is restored to health and sent back to serve with the pot.
