Agnès, serveuse solitaire, vit dans un vieux motel quasiment inhabité. Traumatisée par un ex-mari violent, l’angoisse ne cesse de l’étreindre depuis que celui-ci est sorti de prison. L’arrivée de Peter, vagabond aux airs fantasques, vient soudainement égayer son quotidien. Ancien vétéran de la guerre du Golfe, il a servi de cobaye pour des expériences scientifiques. Là réside sans doute l’origine des insectes qui s’immiscent sous sa peau. L’étrange phénomène va même jusqu’à contaminer Agnès…
