Les échos d’un film à l’autre sont évidents, le rapport au père (que l’on rejette ou au-dessus duquel on veut socialement s’élever) fait le lien entre ces deux œuvres majeures se refermant toutes deux sur une tentative d’apaisement. Court métrage solaire aux trouées hédonistes revigorantes, "Jeux de plage" excelle par ailleurs dans sa capacité à saisir l’air des vacances en bord de mer, entre ennui en famille, rencontres éphémères, flirts adolescents, ambiances de karaoké et de bals populaires.
