Two Men in Manhattan
by Jean-Pierre Melville

New York. A French UN Delegate has disappeared into thin air. Moreau, a reporter, and Delmas, an alcoholic photographer, try to find the Frenchman. Their only lead is the picture of three women. After visiting all three, one of the women they visit tries to commit suicide. Moreau and Delmas get her to confess that the delegate is in her home where he died from a heart attack. Moreau considers the case closed whereas Delmas sees the opportunity for a scandalous scoop.
